Zango appoints new CEO

Local property platform Zango has appointed Darryn McRae as CEO, who will begin in the role in January next year.

McRae comes to Zango as a former REA executive and the company’s third-longest serving employee, having been sales manager for NSW for the past five years.

“Joining Zango sounded like such an interesting proposition, it was too good an opportunity to turn down,” he says.

“I was particularly drawn to the fact that the ACT is a smaller market and Zango’s structure and systems mean it can be nimble which is incredibly important in today’s digital world. The agent-owned model of Zango is also unique and I am excited to immerse myself into that dynamic.”

McRae and his family will be moving to Canberra, where he says he is looking forward to involving himself in the local community.

“We are a part of our local community here in Sydney and although I will be sad to say goodbye, we are looking forward to opening new doors in Canberra. I know that Zango has community at its heart,” he says.

McRae’s experience has seen him responsible for the development and implementation of sales strategies, as well as well as business development, and account, channel and sales team management.

Zango’s current CEO, Ben Faulks, will move into the role of director. He says securing McRae as the new CEO is “huge validation” for the company and an indication of Zango’s potential to “be a real game changer”.

“It’s been a real privilege to hold a leadership role with Zango and to witness the coming together of the Canberra real estate industry.

“I am delighted to support Darryn as he assumes the role, and to continue to play an active part in the business moving forward,” says Faulks.

Zango launched in Canberra in February this year, as a collaboration between a number of local real estate agents.
