Woman facing court for importing GBL

ACT Policing arrested a 48-year-old woman yesterday, Thursday 8 July, after a parcel scheduled for delivery to the woman was intercepted by police and found to contain more than a kilogram of the controlled substance gamma-butyrolactone (GBL).

Police intercepted the parcel on Thursday 24 June. The GBL in the parcel was replaced with an inert substance and was delivered to the woman’s residence in Hughes yesterday.

The woman was arrested shortly afterwards, and taken to the ACT Watch House.

She is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court this morning, Friday 9 July, charged with importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug, attempted possession of a commercial quantity of an unlawfully imported drug, and failure to comply with a 3LA order relevant to a serious offence.
