Wind farm soars above reserve

Over 500 acres near Yass set to be home to part of the Bango Wind Farm, has sold under the hammer for $375,000 over reserve.

‘Woolangubra’ at 3047 Wargeila Road sold for $1.6 million in an online auction on 9 April, in what Ray White Rural Canberra/Yass sales agent George Southwell believes to be “the first wind farm that has ever been sold publicly in Australia”.

“I haven’t been able to find another wind farm sale like it in Australia so I am certain it could potentially be the first,” he said.

The winning bidders also own the adjacent land, and plan to expand their sheep operation.  Woolangubra will be home to part of the wind farm, which will comprise a total of 46 wind turbines, expected to be completed and operational in 2021.
