Canberrans sleep better

A recent survey of the nation’s sleeping habits has found that one in four Australians can’t remember the last time they had a good night’s sleep. The national survey conducted by Australian health retailer, Healthy Life, also found that women were worse off with 28% of female respondents admitting they couldn’t recall the last time they had a good night’s rest, compared to 20% of male respondents. Interestingly, the survey revealed that older Australians were getting the best shut-eye with 45% of respondents aged over 65 saying they got a good night’s sleep every night. Those in the ACT were among the nation’s better sleepers, with more than 40% reporting that they got a solid sleep every night.

Beneath the seams of Italian fashion

Celebrated fashion illustrator and author, Megan Hess, has released her latest book, Iconic: The Masters of Italian Fashion ($29.99). Taking readers on an unforgettable journey from the workshops of Florence to the runways of Milan, Megan goes beneath the seams of 10 iconic Italian designers: Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Missoni, Prada, Miu Miu, Gucci, Versace, Emilio Pucci and Valentino. For centuries, Italian fashion has been known for its craftsmanship and luxury, but also for its creativity and, most of all, its passion. This book is a lavish celebration of one of the world’s leading fashion destinations.

The Polished Man campaign

The Polished Man campaign encourages men (and women) to paint one nail for the month of October, representing the one child who dies every five minutes as a result of violence. But, why men? Because 88% of reported sexual violence is perpetrated by men, but the Polished Man movement is not about pointing the finger – it’s about empowerment. It’s about asking men to unite and lead by example. When men decide to paint a fingernail, it’s also more likely to spark conversation, which leads to greater awareness. Donations from the Polished Man campaign allow for trauma recovery and trauma prevention for children around the world.
