Tom Ross re-signs with Brumbies for two years

Local product Tom Ross has re-signed with the Brumbies for a further two seasons, committing the tighthead prop to Canberra until the end of 2023.

A local junior, educated at Daramalan College, Ross has risen through the ranks at the Brumbies, graduating from the pathways program to make his debut in 2019 against the NSW Waratahs.

Ross has made 22 appearances to date for the Brumbies, the former Junior Wallaby having played the most minutes in his career this season.

Ross said he was stoked to stay in his home town and is looking forward to continuing to improve.

“I’m really happy to be staying at the Brumbies for at least the next two years,” said Ross.

“Canberra is my home, the Brumbies have always been my club, so coming into work here every day is truly a dream come true for me.

“Having said that, I know that I’ve got to continue to push myself day in and day out, soaking up what I can from the coaches and the quality props we have at the club so that I can push for more starts and more minutes, hopefully contributing to success as a team on the field.”

Brumbies head coach Dan McKellar said Ross has shown he belongs at Super Rugby level but also have plenty more to learn.

“We’re really happy for Tom and his family that he’ll be sticking around for at least the next two seasons.”

“He’s been through a lot in his first couple of years with injuries but he has come out the other end as a more mature person and professional.

“It’s a testament to Rossy’s resilience and character that he’s now in the best shape of his career so far and continues to show that he belongs at Super Rugby level.

“His love of set piece and physicality has been there since he was a kid in our pathways program and while he’s still got lots to learn keeping him at the club was very important for us and we’re all excited to see him continue his development at the Brumbies.”
