To the editor: In praise of Senator Price’s maiden speech

I concur with Bill Stefaniak’s praise of Senator Price’s Maiden Speech (‘Fit the Bill: Will Jacinta Price be our first Indigenous PM?’ CW 13 August 2022 ), for it was impressive in its demolition of counterproductive virtue signalling whilst demonstrating the uplifting power of individual enterprise. It wouldn’t surprise me to see a Northern Territory branch of the Belco Party established in support of the new Senator!

But seriously, coverage of the speech draws attention to the challenges faced by many Top End communities, and I am pleased the Canberra Daily contributed to the public awareness of a national tragedy. As if to prove the accuracy of Senator Price’s speech, it is shameful that certain woke national media have provided so little coverage of it.
