The ACT records 11 new COVID-19 cases

The ACT has recorded 11 new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, with three people in hospital.

Of the three hospital patients with active or clears coronavirus cases, one is in intensive care but not requiring ventilation.

The active COVID cases in the ACT remains at 61 with the total cases of the Canberra outbreak now 2,098.

There were 2,491 negative tests returned in the past 24 hours.

The vaccination rate remains at 98.3 per cent for the 12 plus population.

The Canberra Raiders today confirmed a staff member had tested positive to COVID-19,

All players and staff are being tested for the virus and are now in isolation.

The club is awaiting further direction from ACT Health and are following all NRL protocols.

Meanwhile, NSW recorded its highest ever daily tally of COVID-19 infections with 1,742 new cases and no new deaths.

NSW Health remains most concerned about the ongoing spread of the virus in the Newcastle area, which recorded 633 new cases overnight, where the majority are the highly transmissible Omicron variant.

There are 192 people in NSW with COVID in hospitals, 26 of them in ICU.

Victoria reported 1,622 new COVID-19 cases and nine deaths.
