Qantas’ first Canberra to the Sunshine Coast flight took off this afternoon, as one of three new routes introduced from the national capital this month.
Qantas will step into competition with small carriers Link Airways and Alliance Airlines in the Canberra market, today announcing three new routes from the national capital to the Sunshine Coast, Hobart and Cairns.
Qantas will increase flights between the ACT and Queensland following the lifting of border restrictions, including introducing a new seasonal route between Canberra and the Gold Coast.
Three weekly return Canberra to Adelaide direct flights will start this week, while it remains unknown when the SA border will open to ACT residents.
Weekly return flights operating out of Canberra Airport will increase to 19 flights to Sydney, 16 to Melbourne, and 10 flights to Brisbane by the end of June.
