Calling all thrill seekers: Luna Park is set to re-open in late June as it announces the completion of the first of nine new rides, Little Nipper.

The iconic home of fun in Sydney announced the $30 million upgrade in November 2020, pledging to transform the Park into a world-class amusement venue fit for the 21st century.

The relaunch will be delivered in a staged rollout over the coming months, with eight of the nine new rides on track for completion by June.

Little Nipper is the first of nine new permanent rides joining Sydney’s iconic amusement park. The upgrade will also see the Park welcome a brand new, state of the art, multi-launch coaster and a world-first with the introduction of a single rail launch coaster.

The introduction of the nine new rides in one year is one of the biggest single upgrades of any amusement park in the world.

Luna Park is also introducing a new interactive gamification offer called Luna Play.

Luna Play’s interactive features will allow access to a digital world where guests can get onto the Luna Park leaderboards, view a 3D interactive map of the park, and buy their photos taken screaming on the wildest rides.

Luna Park managing director, Peter Hearne, said they were “excited for construction to be underway and to be able to provide the Park with a momentous facelift while retaining the deeply embedded history of this much-loved entertainment destination”.

“This $30 million upgrade has been a long time in development, and we are excited for the upcoming opening in time for the NSW July school holidays.”

Thrill seekers and fun lovers are invited to start planning their trips to Luna Park by nabbing a $199 limited edition annual pass with six months’ exclusive access to the benefits of the new Luna Perks Loyalty Program. This allows guests to earn points to unlock special offers, food, toys, show bags and merchandise as well as memorable experiences, such as the opportunity to turn on the iconic Luna Park lights.

Luna Perks will be exclusive to annual pass holders from June and all other guests from December 2021.
