An 84-year-old man has died after being hit by a car in Canberra’s Inner North last week, bringing the number of deaths on ACT roads this year to six.

ACT Policing say the man was hit by the car while at a pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Brigalow and Hall Streets in Lyneham at around 5.30pm on Friday 18 June.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance for emergency treatment but died from his injuries yesterday, Thursday 24 June.

Following an investigation, police say they expect to charge the driver of the car, a 61-year-old woman, with negligent driving causing death. She will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on a date to be fixed.
