Body of 75-year-old man recovered from Kambah Pool

ACT Policing will prepare a report for the coroner regarding the death of a 75-year-old man at the Kambah Pool area in Canberra’s south on Saturday.

ACT Policing confirmed the body of the man had been recovered in the water after a significant search.

Around 12.30pm, ACT Policing received reports of a man going missing after entering the river.

ACT Policing officers, AFP Search and Rescue, AFP Maritime Operations, ACT Ambulance Services and ACT State Emergency Service personnel, supported by the Toll Rescue helicopter, commenced a search downstream.

Police said the man had initially been assisted by a kayaker who was unable to pull him from the water.

The man’s body was located in the water at about 3pm and is confirmed as deceased.

ACT Policing want to remind the public to take extreme care when swimming in any of the ACT Natural waterways.

If you see someone in danger or the situation is life-threatening, call Triple Zero immediately.

Kambah Pool has been closed to the public for swimming due to increased bacteria levels in the Murrumbidgee River, but has been open for boating and other activities.
