Score a gem at the Yass ‘Found it at Vinnies’ auction

Vinnies will be holding a live auction in Yass this Saturday, selling unique items from local stores to support people in need over the Christmas period.

There will be a range of gems and treasures to be found at the ‘Found it At Vinnies’ auction including vintage Star Wars Lego and a retro musical car, as well as clothing, jewellery, furniture, art and more.

The items will go under the hammer to be sold by Yass auctioneer Steve Scroope, with the proceeds to go towards making Christmas brighter for people in need after a particularly tough year.

“Christmas already puts pressure on families that are experiencing difficulties,” said Vinnies Canberra/Goulburn president, John Feint.

“Besides the normal stressors of bills, food, rent payments and more, there are the added difficulties of paying for a Christmas meal and presents to celebrate with some normalcy.”

In a year that started with bushfire relief, Vinnies also faced some challenges to the way it operates, forced to pivot its services to ensure COVID-safe delivery.

Saturday’s live auction will be a chance to support Vinnies in their work as well as have a bit of fun and score some new threads or accessories. And, according to the Vinnies Canberra/Goulburn director of centres, Lindsay Rae, it will be a chance for the Yass community to show off their community spirit and generosity.

“The day will be full of friendly faces, enviable items and a sausage sizzle provided by the local Lions club. What more could you want for a Saturday?”

The auction will be held on Saturday 12 December 10.30am at the Mt Carmel School quadrangle, Dutton Street, Yass, with a preview of the items on offer to take place from 9.30am.

Participants can register prior to Saturday at the Vinnies Yass store, by calling 6234 7451 or on arrival on the day.
