Queanbeyan records 141 COVID cases, 285 in Southern NSW

The Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD) has recorded 285 new COVID cases with 141 infections coming in Queanbeyan.

Today’s numbers are down on yesterday’s 374 COVID cases in Southern NSW.

The number of people in hospital with the virus has risen by seven to 16 with two people in the ICU. 36 people are under active care, down from 51 yesterday.

There are now 3,167 active COVID cases in the SNSWLHD with the total number of infections up to 4,213 since the start of the outbreak in June.

The Queanbeyan Palerang LGA recorded 141 new COVID-19 cases.

Goulburn Mulwaree LGA recorded 58 new cases.

Snowy Monaro LGA has 32 new COVID infections.

Yass Valley LGA reported 19 COVID-19 cases.

Upper Lachlan reported 19 new cases.

Eurobodalla LGA has 16 new cases.

Bega Valley LGA has 13 new infections.

Meanwhile, NSW recorded 25,870 new infections from just over 71,000 PCR tests.

Another 11 deaths were reported on Tuesday, as virus-related hospital admissions again climbed to 2,186.

Some 170 people are in intensive care, about half of whom were unvaccinated.

While the transition to a system that relies more heavily on rapid, at-home tests has been welcomed, the test kits remain in short supply in NSW.

The state government has ordered 50 million tests, with the first to begin arriving this week, and is planning to purchase another 50 million.
