Police charge drunk driver doing burnouts

A 42-year-old Macgregor man has been charged with drink driving and other offences following a report of burnout activity early on Sunday morning.

About 1am yesterday, 20 June, ACT Policing received a complaint from a member of the public about a grey Ford Falcon sedan allegedly performing burnouts in Macgregor.

Police in an unmarked vehicle attended the location and witnessed the Ford Falcon performing a burnout in De Gruchy Place, Macgregor.

Police stopped the vehicle and shortly after the driver returned a positive alcohol screening test.

He was conveyed to the City Police Station to undergo breath analysis, where he returned a reading of 0.093 grams of alcohol per 200 litres of breath.

He was arrested and charged with drive motor vehicle with alcohol in breath; drive while disqualified; improper use of a motor vehicle; use unregistered vehicle; and use uninsured vehicle.

He was bailed from the ACT Regional Watch House and will attend the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
