Get inspired this festive season to go all out with a little extra glam. From the ultimate red lip to careful contouring, we took five minutes with makeup artist Steph Church [stephchurch.com.au] who created this week’s cover look.

Eyes

For this look, apply a warm brown shadow just up to the crease and then carefully blend out. Using the same shadow, smudge under the eye. Apply a winged liner and false lashes to complete the look.

Contouring

To accentuate the cheekbones and create a realistic shadow, contouring is applied ever so subtly with a cool-toned brown shadow. Make sure to set any wet product with a little powder first so that the contour blends well and doesn’t stick or clump to any unwanted areas.

Highlighting

Layering your highlighter is key. Using liquid products and then powder gives a ‘lit from within’ look. Apply highlighter where light would naturally hit the face; on the tops of the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, inner corner of the eye and cupid’s bow. Make that bone structure pop!

Lips

To make a red lip more summery, try a fruity red. Shades such as raspberry red, tangerine and watermelon will look fresh in warmer weather. Use a matching lip liner to help keep the lipstick from bleeding.

Bonus festive makeup tips

Create a statement on the eyes or lips with a shimmer eyeshadow and nude lips OR a pop of lip colour with a more neutral eye look. Top it off with two coats of mascara for an extra statement!

In summer, keep your base lighter by switching to tinted moisturiser and concealer, or just foundation in the areas that you need rather than full coverage all over.
