P-plater caught speeding at 53 km/h over the limit cops $1800 fine

A 21-year-old P-plate driver from Harrison will be fined more than $1,800 after he was detected travelling at 133 km/h on Belconnen Way, Aranda today, Thursday 23 December.

The man was driving a black BMW 335i sedan when he overtook an ACT Road Policing’s unmarked car in the 80 km/h zone.

The driver was issued with an infringement for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45 km/h, which carries a fine of $1,841 and 6 demerit points. His Provisional licence will be suspended for a period of three months.

ACT Policing urge the public to slow down and remind the public that Double Demerit Points begin at midnight tonight.
