Noodles back on the menu and new retailer opens at Canberra Airport

After closing due to pandemic restrictions, Asian noodle and sushi restaurant, Noodles XO, reopens at Canberra Airport today while a new retail and gift store, Merchant Canberra, opens its doors there for the first time.

The concept of world-class airport retailer, Lagardere AWPL, Merchant Canberra is “a celebration of Canberra, focusing on locally made products designed to showcase Canberra and the surrounding regions”, says Ben Norton, multi-site manager of Lagardere AWPL.

“We are excited to have delivered a store dedicated to Canberra and unique to Canberra Airport, designed to represent the nation’s capital in a world-class airport environment,” Mr Norton says.

“Inside the store, customers will find local brands including Bison [homewares], Wildbrumby [spirits], Helm Wines, Jasper + Myrtle chocolates, and Indigenous artwork from around Australia, perfect for those last-minute gifts.”

Back on the menu at the airport is Noodles XO, which serves fresh and fast Asian food, from dumplings and hand-rolled sushi, to pho and their signature laksa. This is the fifth food and beverage offering for Airport Retail Enterprises (ARE) at Canberra Airport.

ARE general manager, Luke Tulloch, says “we are excited to reopen Noodles XO after closing during the pandemic. The restaurant is a tailor-made offering and complements the high quality and great experience travellers experience at Canberra Airport.”

These openings coincide with the upcoming school holidays and several new airline services, including Jetstar to the Gold Coast, Link Airways to Coffs Harbour, and the resumption of international services with Qatar next month.

“We are always trying to enrich the travel experience for Canberrans and our visitors, with a strong ongoing focus on showcasing local products. And we hope the community loves this next offering as much as we do,” says Richard Snow, head of yroperty at Canberra Airport.

“These new openings are perfectly timed for the school holidays and the lead-up to Christmas.”
