Nicoll-Klokstad named at fullback as Roosters guns return

Canberra have named Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad to start at fullback for the club’s must-win clash with the Roosters on Thursday night in Mackay.

The ninth-placed Raiders come into the final round of the NRL season needing to beat the Roosters and for Melbourne to beat Cronulla to sneak into the finals.

Nicoll-Klokstad will start at fullback for the first time since round five after coming off the bench the last two weeks.

The newly re-signed Jordan Rapana shifts to his usual spot on the wing, while Bailey Simonsson will miss 1-2 weeks with a groin injury.

The combination of Nicoll-Klokstad at fullback and Rapana on the wing was instrumental in the Raiders comeback win over the Warriors last week, with the pair combining for 469 run metres and two tries.

Veteran Sia Soliola also returns to the side at lock, with Ryan Sutton moving to the bench and Dunamis Lui out of the squad.

The Roosters bad run of injuries continued last week with star centre Joey Manu fracturing his eye socket after a high shot from Latrell Mitchell.

Manu has been replaced in the side by Josh Morris while Adam Keighran also returns as the other centre.

In some positive news for the Roosters, star forwards Angus Chrichton and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves have both been named to return.

Lachlan Lam has been named at halfback with Sam Walker retuning to the bench while Matt Ikuvalu returns on the wing.
