Need a JP? Visit your nearest police station

ACT Policing’s five stations will now offer limited Justice of the Peace services. The stations have remained open for emergency police matters during the lockdown.

Stations in Gungahlin, Belconnen, Canberra City, Woden, and Tuggeranong will open from 10am to 2pm, Monday to Friday, to allow urgent and essential Justice of the Peace services.

If you urgently need documents witnessed, you must book ahead via (02) 5126 9121. No ‘walk-ins’ without a booking will be permitted for document requests, so the stations can operate under COVID-safe rules.

Volunteers would return to duty to offer the Justice of the Peace service, said Detective Sergeant Sharan Slater, ACT Policing’s Volunteers in Policing Program Manager.

“Our ACT Policing volunteers are extremely dedicated to helping people at our stations, so we’re pleased that we can offer Justice of the Peace services within these restricted circumstances,” Sgt Slater said.

“Not all requests may be accepted for booking, as it is important that the service remains available for those urgent and essential matters.”

All volunteers will wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and will take other safety precautions during the appointments.

When entering the station, members of the public are asked to follow the signage for instructions – sanitise, and use the Check In CBR app.

Stations remain accessible for urgent and time critical police matters, including emergency support, violence, or reporting for bail.

For all other police matters, including reporting property damage, call 131 444.

To report non-compliance with current ACT COVID-19 health directions, you can complete a form via Access Canberra, or contact the COVID-19 Helpline on 6207 7244 (8am-8pm, 7 days a week).

For police assistance, call 131 444. Only ring Triple Zero (000) for emergencies.
