Mother’s Day gifting and supporting local made easy with Handmade

Looking for Mother’s Day gift ideas? Want to get Mum something unique without even leaving the couch? Well, never fear! Canberra’s beloved Handmade Market will be back on Sunday 26 April with a virtual shopping extravaganza for all your Mother’s Day gifting needs – you might even find something for yourself, too!

This will be the second time Handmade has gone virtual; the first was in March with more than 24,000 visits to the online market. Managing director Julie Nichols said the team are again expecting high traffic for their Mother’s Day event.

“Our customers are so loyal, and love the quality and personal touch you get with handmade products. They really got behind the last Virtual Market, and we know they’re looking forward to this one too,” she said.

“The great thing about the Virtual Market is that people can shop from anywhere,” she said.

“The last one we had, [we] saw people shopping from all over Australia and overseas, giving the stallholders the added benefit of expanding their customer base outside of the ACT.”

Ms Nichols said the event on Sunday will feature the usual “fantastic range” of food, beverages, fashion, homewares and gifts. Of the 350 stallholders, a number of them are local to the Canberra region.

Local picks for Mum

Browse from local makers and producers at the virtual Handmade Market for the perfect gift for mum, whatever she’s into.

Eucalypse: Unique jewellery created using Australian native flora preserved in resin; for the fashion-forward mother.

A little bird made me: Cute, fun and quirky tea cosies and other tea-related products for the mum that loves a cuppa!

ATP Creative Design: On-trend planners, calendars and message boards and more – for the super-organised mum who likes to have it all planned out.

Sweet Pea & Poppy: For the mamas with a sweet tooth: handmade, artisan chocolates that are (almost) too pretty to eat.

Missy Minzy: The cutest designs from illustrator Irene Tan are on temporary tattoos, patches, enamel pins and more; for the mums with some serious #CanberraPride.

The Handmade Virtual Market will be held on Sunday 26 April 9am-9pm via the Handmade Canberra website. To enter the giveaway to win a range of products from the stallholders, register as ‘interested’ on the Handmade Facebook event.
