Kerry Whiting pleas not guilty over Tasmania stabbing murder

44-year-old Kerry Whiting has pleaded not guilty to murder following a double stabbing at a home in northern Tasmania.

A man in his 30s died in the incident in suburban Launceston in the early hours of November 25, while a woman, also in her 30s, was critically injured.

Kerry Lee Whiting appeared via video link in Launceston Magistrates Court on Monday and pleaded not guilty to murder, attempted murder and aggravated burglary.

He will next appear in court on 31 January. Whiting was taken into custody at a home in Launceston on the night of 1 December.

The woman was released from hospital last week.
