Inside & out: Zero Waste Fest, Easter scents, and autumn gardening

O’Connor Community Open Day

The O’Connor Canberra Organic Growers (COGS) Community Garden and the O’Connor Uniting Community Hub are hosting their first joint Open Day on Saturday 23 April 10am-4pm at O’Connor Uniting Church, 58-60 Scrivener Street, featuring demonstrations, displays, community stalls, a sausage sizzle, and coffee van refreshments. At 10am learn about planting bee friendly gardens from ACT For Bees and add your flowers to the Bee Tree. At 10.30am Capital Scraps will show how to make great compost. Global Worming will demonstrate worm farming at 11.15am, and at 12pm help Canberra Seed Savers make a seed bomb. Guided tours of the Garden will be available until 2.30pm with the Community Hub activities and coffee van available until 4pm.

Canberra’s Zero Waste Festival

‘One person, a world of difference’ is this year’s Canberra Zero Waste Festival theme, ready to inspire constructive action against pollution. Showcasing local zero waste initiatives throughout homes and businesses from their range of speakers, including Canberran Instagrammer Camille de Bourgh! The festival is set to invigorate the Canberra community to live with zero waste, one small change and step at a time.
