IBAC investigates Dani Laidley photo leak

Victoria’s anti-corruption commission is investigating allegations police officers have again shared a secret photo of former AFL coach Dani Laidley with transphobic comments.

The Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission said it was asking for anyone with information into allegations an “unsolicited photograph” was taken of Ms Laidley at the Ballan Cup in Geelong on November 6.

IBAC said the photo was shared by via text message by Victoria Police officers “alongside transphobic comments”.

The fresh inquiry comes just six months after Victoria Police ordered 11 cops to pay out thousands of dollars to Ms Laidley after they leaked photos of her mug shot.

Court documents alleged the mug shot was shared in a police WhatsApp group alongside transphobic comments.

Three police officers have been charged with a range of offences over the alleged leak.

Ms Laidley, formerly known as Dean, was a 1996 premiership player for North Melbourne and coached the Kangaroos from 2003 to 2009.

IBAC performs a critical role in independently oversighting Victoria Police to ensure officers are accountable.
