Googong releases first large, single-dwelling blocks

In a first for the NSW township, Googong has released two large residential blocks, each with over 15,000sqm of available land for the buyers to build on.

The two blocks, lots 902 and 903, come in at 1.597ha and 1.729ha respectively, and Googong’s project director, Malcolm Leslie, says they cannot be subdivided to allow for the development of more than one residence on each block.

“Each lot has a defined and generous building envelope for the main home, and restrictions around structures that can be built outside that,” he said, “that can accommodate garages, tennis courts, pool, outdoor entertaining areas, etc., that otherwise don’t require access to mains sewer”.

“This a unique opportunity because blocks of this size are traditionally only found in rural areas.”

Both blocks are north-facing and can be accessed from the residential suburban Connolly Street. They are adjacent to conservation land which is never to be built on.

Mr Leslie said the availability of the two blocks is a first for Googong, and another offering of lots of this size is not likely for “another 10 to 15 years”.

“This truly is a once in a decade opportunity,” he said.

“This is a fantastic chance for someone to build their dream home and space for a range of onsite amenity with the comfort of an established community.”

The lots are being sold via expression of interest, which close on Tuesday 1 September at 5pm.

Googong is home to more than 5,000 people, since welcoming its first residents in 2014, with 18,000 residents expected to eventually call the township home upon its completion.

Development is planned for a Googong town centre, with a supermarket and a retail precinct in the works. A new secondary school, public library, fire station, aged care facility and another community centre are also on the cards for future development.
