After missing out on any AFL games for premiership points in 2020, Manuka Oval will again play host to three GWS Giants matches in 2021, including a Friday night blockbuster.
The action is set to return early in the season with the Giants to play the Melbourne Demons in round 3 on Sunday 4 April 7.10pm.
The bright lights of Friday night footy will again shine on Manuka Oval as the Western Bulldogs come to town to reignite their rivalry with the Giants in round 6 on Friday 23 April 8.20pm.
Both sides have developed a healthy rivalry ever since the 2016 Preliminary Final and the Giants will be looking to get one back after a 24-point loss against them this year.
The Giants third and final game in Canberra for 2021 will be against the Port Adelaide in round 20 with the exact time and date to be determined later as the AFL adopt a floating fixture for this season.
The Giants will face reigning premiers Richmond twice, along with the Melbourne Demons, Carlton Blues, Essendon Bombers and, of course, cross-town rivals, the Sydney Swans as they look to return to the finals.
The Giants are coming off a disappointing 2020 campaign that saw them miss the finals for the first time since 2015.
They also endured a tough off-season in which they lost the club’s leading goal kicker Jeremy Cameron to the Geelong Cats and star halfback/midfielder Zac Williams to the Carlton Blues.
The Giants did however pick up some young talent at the 2020 AFL Draft with Tanner Bruhn, Conor Stone and Ryan Angwin all joining the club as first-round picks.
Manuka Oval will also host a pre-season match between the Giants and Essendon Bombers at 7.40pm on Friday 5 March.
