The AFL have announced the fixture for the first four rounds back with plenty of blockbusters lined up to have footy fans salivating, with the GIANTS schedule including a rematch of last year’s preliminary final.
The GIANTS will be looking to pick up where they left off after a polished performance in their opening round win against the Geelong Cats but will face a tough first month back with games against the North Melbourne Kangaroos, Western Bulldogs, Collingwood Magpies and Hawthorn Hawks.
The GIANTS have been rewarded for their 2019 season with two primetime Friday night matches against the Bulldogs in Round 3 at Marvel Stadium before hosting the Magpies in a rematch of last year’s nail-biting preliminary final.
They play three of the four matches at home with their Round 2 match against the Kangaroos at GIANTS stadium on Sunday 14 June at 1.05pm.
Two of the big Victorian clubs will help kickstart the competition in the opening match on Thursday 11 June, with the reigning premiers, Richmond Tigers to do battle against the Magpies.
The two sides played in Round 2 last year in front of 78,722 fans, but the MCG will look a little different this time around with no crowds allowed for the foreseeable future.
Round 2 will feature two other renowned rivalries, with the modern-day rivalry between Cats and Hawks set to be renewed for the first installment of Friday night footy for 84 days.
Then one for all South Australians to enjoy with the showdown between the Port Adelaide Power and the Adelaide Crows to be played on Saturday 13 June.
