Garema place hotel

Managing Director of Geocon, Nick Georgalis, has said the construction giant’s latest venture, Canberra City Luxury Hotel in Garema Place, will bring “vibrancy, life and energy” to the Canberra CBD.

“We’re talking about a city-defining, revolutionary development – with a rooftop nightclub and swimming pool, function spaces, a ball room, restaurants, a gallery and cafes. With no lock-out laws, this development will reinvent Canberra’s 24-hour economy,” Mr Georgalis said in a statement.

“This hotel is Canberra’s answer to The Ivy in Sydney. Around the world, people will see this venue on Instagram and put it on their bucket list.”

The hotel comes under the Iconic Hotels brand, a division of Geocon. The brand has plans to implement three “luxury precincts” within the ACT as part of Iconic Hotels’ luxury hotels portfolio, in Canberra’s City, Parkes and a third location yet to be announced.

The hotel is somewhat controversial, with the ACT Greens coming out against the proposal in May last year, and the current debate around entertainment precincts and noise levels in the City.
