Four rescued after boat capsized near Merimbula

The Marine Area Command has rescued four people after a boat capsized off waters near Merimbula yesterday

About 10am 13 June, police were called to Hunter Rock, towards the southern end of Merimbula Bay, following reports an aluminium runabout boat encountered trouble and had capsized.

On arrival, Eden Water Police located the skipper and three other occupants of the vessel -aged seven, 30, 31 and 60 – floating near the vessel.

With the assistance of Surf Life Savers from Pambula Beach, all four were rescued and returned to shore safely. Three out of the four were wearing lifejackets; the three younger males were taken to hospital as a precaution and treated for shock and hypothermia.

Efforts are currently being made to salvage the vessel.
