Food for thought: at-home meal kits, wine and more

The latest in foodie news, events and products.

Lavazza has launched at-home meal kits celebrating coffee regions, with cuisines from Central America, the Amazon and Africa to celebrate their new ¡Tierra! coffee range. Created in collaboration with chef and MasterChef judge Jock Zonfrillo, the meal kits come with three recipes, designed for two people to cook over three nights: vatapá curry with annatto seeds for Central America, roasted pumpkin salad with tamarind from the Amazon, and East Africa represented with an injera bread with chickpeas.

“The meals within our kit include ingredients that will raise awareness on climate change and the importance of sustainable farming,” said Zonfrillo. “We’ve brought attention to regions that the Lavazza Foundation supports through its ¡Tierra! projects and highlighted produce that is culturally significant to these local communities.” The kits are $20 each, with proceeds to go towards a not-for-profit organisation to carbon-offset the kits’ travel, and are available via atlasmasterclass.com.au (search ‘Lavazza’) while stocks last.

Coles customers can now enjoy the signature taste of popular Vietnamese food chain Roll’d at home, with a number of pantry items now available in stores. Items include Roll’d rice vermicelli, rice paper, and sauces like nuoc mam, hoisin and chilli mayo.

McDonald’s has launched a limited-edition, glitter-encrusted Ronald McDonald in partnership with collectibles brand Funko. The figurines are available in restaurants now for $20, with all profits to go Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The 2021 Australian Highlands Wine Show is set to reveal the very best wines grown in Australia’s high-altitude regions. Open to cool climate wines from across the country, the show is anticipating more than 100 entries this year from regions such as the Canberra District, NSW Southern Highlands, Orange, Mudgee, Tumbarumba, Hilltops, new England, and Adelaide Hills. Entries closed on 22 August with the awards presentation to take place in October.
