Duffy man facing court after multiple Chapman break-ins

A 30-year-old man has been charged with burglary and other offences after allegedly threatening another man in his Chapman home with a weapon and stealing thousands in clothing, electronic devices and cash.

On 13 August 2021, two men allegedly broke into a residence in Chapman and threatened the occupant before forcing him to transfer money and stealing items from the home.

On 15 August a second break-in occurred at the same residence and further items were stolen.

Yesterday, officers from ACT Policing’s Major Crime Unit executed a search warrant at a Duffy home where they uncovered items stolen from the Chapman residence in the burglary, and an underground hydroponic cannabis grow room hidden behind a trap door.

The 30-year-old man was charged with blackmail, aggravated burglary (x2), theft (x2), possessing a weapon and forcible confinement. He is expected to face ACT Magistrates Court today.

Investigations are continuing into this matter and further charges are expected.
