Downer man wins $15 million in lottery

A young Downer man has become one of Australia’s newest multi-millionaires after he scored $15 million in last night’s Oz Lotto draw.

He shared the $30 million jackpot with a Victorian from St Albans.

The pair held the only division one winning entries in last night’s Oz Lotto draw, draw 1451, drawn Tuesday 7 December.

Both are due to receive their $15 million prizes on Wednesday 22 December, setting the scene for merry Christmas and New Year.

The Downer man received the greatest phone call of his life this morning as lottery officials confirmed he won more than $15 million in the draw.

“This is too much money to comprehend,” he exclaimed when a lottery official contacted him this morning to confirm his prize.

“I’ve always thought a $1 million prize would be the number. I never thought of something this big!

“I had a quick look at my ticket last night before bed. I actually slept quite well. It was the last thing I saw before bed, and I don’t think it registered properly.

“I always pick the numbers – a couple of birthdays, and then I just pick the rest randomly.
 – birthdays, and then just random ones in there.

“This is the greatest phone call of my life!”

Despite becoming an overnight multi-millionaire, the young Downer man admitted he still turned up to work today but had begun formulating some plans.

“With everything that’s happened during the past two years, being in the same place and doing the same things, now’s the time to think about things, and I’ve certainly got a few more options now,” he said.

“I’m at that point where I’m thinking I’ll be working for the next 30 or more years, but now that’s probably not going to happen. There will be more time off work, longer holidays and paying off the mortgage.

“This Christmas should be fun!”
