ACT COVID cases back over 1000

The ACT has recorded over 1000 COVID cases for the first time in six weeks as the number of people in hospital with the virus dropped.

There are 1053 new cases in the latest update, the highest figure in Canberra since 19 January.

Of the new infections, 596 are from PCR tests and 457 from RATs.

The ACT has now recorded 51,244 total COVID cases since the start of the pandemic with 34 virus-related deaths.

There are now 4027 active cases in Canberra.

The number of people in hospital with the virus has dropped from 45 to 40, none are in the ICU or requiring ventilation.

78.5 per cent of ACT residents aged 16 and over have received three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 68.2 per cent of children aged between 5 and 11 have received one dose.
