Coordinate named ACT Business of the Year

Advertising and marketing agency Coordinate was named the ACT Business of the Year at the 2019 ACT Telstra Business Awards, also picking up the award in the Medium and Making Waves category.

Founder and director Jamie Wilson said Coordinate is “honoured” to have been recognised for the two awards alongside “so many deserving Canberra businesses”.

“To our amazing clients and those that helped us from the humble days starting the business above the Griffith supermarket – we dedicate this to you.

“We are proud of where our agency is today, thanks to a dedicated team and working with clients who believe in our vision,” he said.

Plumbing, drainage and gas-fitting company Water Tight took out the Small and Succeeding category, and director Tom Martin says the company uses technology to ensure reliable and professional service.

“It’s not often you see a trade business take out a prestigious business award, so we are pleased for the plumbing sector in winning this award. While many people may just see their plumber as someone who unblocks their toilet, this award shows the broader aspects to running a plumbing business,” he said.

“We credit this punctual service largely to our use of digital technology to engage with our customers and improve productivity. The use of digital technology across all areas of our business is critical to our business’ success and an area that we will continue to improve on.”

The Social Change Maker category was awarded to OzHelp, a foundation delivering suicide prevention, physical and mental health workplace training and support programs to multiple industries across the country.

“We are honoured to be recognised with a Telstra Business Award in the category of Social Change Maker,” said OzHelp CEO Darren Black. “Not only is it affirmation for all the hard work of our staff, partners and supporters, but it is a chance to put a spotlight on workplace health and wellbeing. We encourage more employers to do right by their staff, and take action to improve mental health in their workplaces.”

Landscaping services company New Level Landscapes, who took out the Emerging and Energised category, said in a post on the company Facebook page that they are “incredibly proud of everyone involved”.

The ACT winners will join other State and Territory winners at the National Telstra Business Awards in Melbourne in November.
