Conversation and conservation at Ginninderry Inspire Festival

Sustainability superstars will inspire conversation and conservation at Ginninderry’s INSPIRE Festival this Saturday, 15 April. They will discuss sustainable living and cleaner and greener futures.

The festival aims to inspire attendees to live sustainably and learn about the latest trends, products, and innovations designed for a brighter future, Marcus Mills-Smith, Head of Community, Marketing and Communications, said.

“Our sustainability pioneers will share their respective philosophies and the ways in which they are leading other Australians to follow more ecologically conscious pathways.

“Each brings a different perspective, which we hope gives people food for thought about how they can live a more sustainable lifestyle.”

Emma Macdonald will host three discussion sessions with leaders in sustainability.

The guests include filmmaker and author Damon Gameau, who directed the thought-provoking documentary 2040 (2019), which explores solutions to the climate crisis, and That Sugar Film (2014), about the effects of high sugar diets. Mr Gameau was nominated in 2020 for New South Wales Australian of the Year for his work in ‘The Regeneration’ movement.

Matthew Evans, a chef and former food critic turned food activist, runs Fat Pig Farm in Tasmania, following principles of ethical and sustainable production. He is the author of more than a dozen books on food, including Soil: The incredible story of what keeps the Earth, and us, healthy.

Paul West, a former chef at Vue de Monde, starred in the Australian version of the popular UK River Cottage series. Now writing on food, soil and promoting the Grow it Local movement, Mr West is a regular ABC radio commentator and television presenter.

For those keen to learn practical ways to integrate sustainable practices, The Climate Factory’s Edwina Robinson will lead sessions in sustainable landscape design and climate-resistant landscapes,.

Angus Stewart, horticulturalist and former presenter of Gardening Australia, will bring his wealth of gardening knowledge to the main stage.

INSPIRE also offers plenty of ways to learn more about living a sustainable lifestyle – or just enjoy a fun day out with the family.

“There’ll be a chance to take an electric vehicle for a spin, learn gardening tips and tricks, and sample food from local artisans and producers,” Mr Mills-Smith said.

“There will be also a range of workshops, activities, and entertainment designed for all ages including the dirtgirl character, the Gecko Gang, and more. It will be a great day out!”

INSPIRE Festival is on this Saturday 15 April 10am – 4pm at Ginninderry GX Display Village. Visit ginninderry.com/inspire for more information.
