Cavalry to host ABL Wild Card Finals game

The Canberra Cavalry will host the ABL Wild Card Game against the Sydney Blue Sox at MIT Ballpark on Tuesday night, 9 February after securing 4th spot on the ladder.

The winner of the clash will head to Melbourne to take on the ladder-topping Aces on Thursday 11 February for the ABL Championship Series Tournament while the loser’s season will come to an end.

The Cavs secured the home final with a 2-2 series split against the Brisbane Bandits that featured an epic 11-innings contest on Saturday night that the Cavs won 12-11.

The third game of the series saw 3 separate comebacks by the Cavalry, including a game-tying grand slam in the 10th inning by Boss Moanaroa, before Mikey Reynolds ended things with a walk-off single.

After losing the first two games of the series, the Cavs needed to win the fourth match to host the Wild Card Game for a second straight season and did so with a comfortable 4-0 win.

The playoff berth is an impressive accomplishment for a team who was hindered by border restrictions for more than half of the season.

Now at full-strength, the Cavalry will fight to bring the Clayton Shield back to Canberra for the 2nd time.

Tickets will be available for the Tuesday night Finals Game on Monday at 2pm via https://gocavsgo.com.au.
