Cannabis and cash seized during traffic stop

ACT Policing seized approximately 21 kilograms of dried cannabis and more than $14,000 in cash following a traffic stop last night, Sunday 4 July.

About 7.40pm, police stopped a grey Ford Ranger SUV on Coulter Drive, Belconnen and executed a search warrant on the vehicle.

Detectives from ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations team located several vacuum-sealed bags containing approximately 21 kilograms of a substance suspected of being dried cannabis in the rear of the vehicle. Police also located cash totaling more than $14,000 and five mobile telephones in the vehicle.

The 28-year-old man, who was driving the vehicle, was spoken to by police at the scene.

While the man was not charged in relation to these warrants, police believe a crime syndicate focused on the supply of cannabis and other drugs into the ACT is responsible. Investigations are ongoing.

Anyone with information about this matter or the supply of drugs in the ACT is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.
