Canberra records four COVID-19 cases

The ACT has recorded four new COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, with the number of active cases in Canberra dropping to 60.

There are still four patients being treated in hospital with active or cleared cases. Just one of those in intensive care and none are requiring ventilation.

The vaccination rate has slightly increased with 98.3 per cent of eligible Canberrans now double dosed.

The new cases brings the total number of infections to 2,080 since the start of the current Canberra COVID-19 outbreak.

1,634 negative tests were returned in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, NSW cases have continued to surge with 804 new cases reported, an increase of 268 on the previous day.

The Newcastle region is of particular concern, with 84 cases linked to The Argyle House nightclub.

The increased cases in NSW comes just a day before restrictions are eased further as unvaccinated individuals are able to once again enjoy basic freedoms.

Victoria recorded over one thousand cases again as they had 1,189 new infections and six deaths.
