Campbell mother scratches $10,000 lottery win on her birthday

A Campbell mother has unwrapped a birthday present from her husband to reveal a $10,000 top prize-winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

The top prize-winning ticket was purchased at Supanews Canberra Centre.

“On my birthday, my husband gave me a bundle of Instant Scratch-Its tickets in a card, and I scratched them on the day. It was a wonderful birthday surprise!” she told an official from The Lott.

“When I first scratched the top prize, I thought to myself, ‘No! That can’t be right. It’s probably only $1,000!’.

“But then I realised it was actually $10,000!

“I looked at it three times and said to my husband, ‘I think I’ve just won $10,000!’. He looked at me and said, ‘No way!’. He put his glasses on and did a double-take. It was very special.

“I did tell him, ‘It doesn’t mean you’re off the birthday hook for the next 10 years though!’. He will have to top off next year’s birthday with something bigger! It will have to be better.

“We celebrated the win on my birthday, and my adult children kept asking what I’d do with the money.

“I’ll definitely put it in the bank and save for my retirement. I’m planning to retire in the near future, so this will be a tremendous boost.

“I’m going to spoil myself and see the Moulin Rouge musical. This win has been music to my ears!”
