Campbell man charged with sexual intercourse without consent

A 54-year-old Campbell man has been charged with one count of sexual intercourse without consent following an incident last weekend.

Police executed a search warrant at his residence at Ainslie Village yesterday, Friday 10 December, and arrested the man soon after.  

It will be alleged he encountered a heavily intoxicated woman in Glebe Park in the early hours of last Sunday morning, 5 December. He took her to his residence in Ainslie Village where police will allege he had sexual intercourse with her while she was unable to provide consent. 

The man is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today, Saturday 11 December.   

ACT Policing encourages anyone who experiences sexual violence to contact police. 

Anyone with information that can assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.  Information can be provided anonymously.
