High Jinks at home package with cocktail mix
High Jinks have launched a range of bottled cocktails to have at home, which include a garnish and extra-large ice cubes, as well as delivery to the Canberra region. Images supplied.

As Canberra’s hospitality scene continues to adapt during COVID-19, New Acton cocktail bar High Jinks has put forward their latest offering: High Jinks at Home.

High Jinks at Home allows cocktail connoisseurs to have bottled cocktails delivered to their door, just in time for World Cocktail Day today (Wednesday 13 May).

The bar’s owner Noriel Calub says he hopes the cocktails will be a little part of the bar for people to enjoy at home.

“People come [to the bar] for the experience,” he says. “It was important for me to deliver a product to reflect that.”

He says High Jinks encourages people to come in and “have a silly goose time”, and wants that fun to continue while people stay at home.

“I can imagine everyone sitting at home in their PJs or their trackies, just trying to stay warm and having a bit a fun [with their cocktails].

“And for those who are more ambitious, we will also be releasing videos where I personally show how to make each of these cocktails at home.”

Available in 200ml and 500ml, there are three bottled cocktail options to choose from:

  • the rosé negroni, a twist on an old favourite, with Adelaide Hills rosé vermouth and Poor Toms imbroglio
  • the killer bee, a gin cocktail with house-made sage-infused honey and fermented plum
  • the penicillin, a combination of two different whiskeys balanced with ginger syrup – perfect for the Canberra winter.
The killer bee: a “harebrained” concoction of gin, sage-infused honey and fermented plum.

Noriel says the range reflects a taste of High Jinks; “nothing too fancy, classic cocktails, and flavours to represent the winter season”.

“I wanted to do something different to straight classics, something fun and interesting.”

High Jinks is also operating as a bottle shop from 5-7pm daily, providing wine and beer for the Acton locals.
