At a glance: Brumbies in trial action

The Brumbies recently returned from a 10-day training camp after they were forced to temporarily relocate to Newcastle due to the poor air quality in Canberra. The side has back-to-back trial matches against the Rebels today (Thursday 23 January) in Albury with kick-off at 3.45pm and 6.15pm. The Brumbies Super Rugby campaign starts on Friday 31 January against the Reds at GIO Stadium, Canberra. Kick-off 7.15pm.

Trophy tour

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Trophy will visit iconic locations around Australia to bring communities and cultures together as excitement builds towards the global event. The trophy is expected to be in Canberra on 29 January-2 February. Follow the @T20WorldCup Facebook Page for event listings in your city!

Local tennis success

Queanbeyan Park Tennis Club and Pat Moloney received top honours at the 2019 Australian Tennis Awards held late last year. Queanbeyan Park Tennis Club became the first Tennis ACT affiliated club to win the Most Outstanding Club award, which included a $25,000 prize to help continue the development of the club courtesy of Tennis Australia. Local player Pat Moloney was recognised for his contributions to tennis when awarded the Most Outstanding 35+ Tennis Senior. Moloney has represented the ACT at the Australian Teams Carnival 33 times, the most of any male player. He also represented Australia earlier this year at the Super Seniors World Championships in Umag, Croatia.

King of MX heads to the coast

The first round of the King of MX motocross series this year will be hosted by the Far South Coast Motorcycle Club at their Bega race track on the weekend of 15-16 February. Juniors will race on the Saturday, and Seniors on the Sunday. The Far South Coast Motorcycle Club venue is located at Sapphire Speedway, Tantawangalo Lane, Candelo NSW and racing will start from around 9am each day.

Super W returns

The third season of Super W Rugby Union will return on Friday 14 February. Brumbies Women will play Rugby WA Women on Saturday 15 February 4.35pm at GIO Stadium, Canberra, playing before the Brumbies versus Highlanders game. The top three teams will advance to the finals, with a two versus three play-off to determine who advances to the final against the top-placed team at the end of the home-and-away season.
