Aggravated burglaries at Curtin and Melba shops

ACT Policing is investigating aggravated burglaries at Curtin and Melba early this morning.

About 5am today, Wednesday 10 November, a Silver Kia Sportage was used to gain access to the rear doors of the supermarket at the Melba shops.

Two people were observed entering the shop, however, police do not believe anything was taken. Significant damage was caused to the rear door of the premises.

The second incident occurred at about 5.15am at the Curtin shops where a person has attempted to gain access to a bottle shop. They initially used an axe to smash the door then used a vehicle to attempt to remove the door from the frame. They did not gain access, however, caused extensive damage to the door.

Police do not believe these incidents are linked and are asking for anyone who witnessed suspicious activity at the Melba or Curtin shops overnight or early this morning to come forward.

Anyone who has information about either of these aggravated burglaries are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote 6956996 for the Melba incident and 6957003 for the Curtin incident. Information can be provided anonymously.
