ACT records three new COVID-19 cases

The ACT has recorded three new COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, bringing the total number of active cases in the territory to 63.

The new cases brings the total number of infections to 2,076 since the start of the current Canberra outbreak.

There are still four patients being treated in hospital with two of those in intensive care and none requiring ventilation.

An update on the ACT’s 98.2 per cent vaccination rate was expected today but ACT Health said the data was not available. The figure was last updated on Friday 10 December.

1,845 negative tests were returned in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, NSW recorded 536 coronavirus cases today, while Victoria reported 1,069 new infections and two deaths.

The Queensland border also opened up today to fully vaccinated residents from the ACT, NSW and Victoria.
