ACT records four new COVID-19 cases

The ACT has recorded four new COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.

The new case figure is one of the lowest daily totals since the Canberra outbreak began in mid-August.

There has been a slight rise in the number of COVID-19 patients being treated in hospital, which now stands at five, up one from yesterday.

Two are being treated in intensive care but none are requiring ventilation.

ACT health authorities are yet to release updated vaccination figures, but the fully vaccinated rate among those 12 and over stands at 98.1 per cent.

1,645 negative tests were recorded in the 24 hours to 9am on Thursday.

The number of active cases now stands at 76 with the total number of cases since the start of the outbreak now 2,055.

The news comes a day after the ACT recorded its 12th COVID-related death of the current outbreak, a man in his 80s with underlying health conditions.

Meanwhile, NSW recorded over 400 coronavirus cases for the second straight day with 420 new cases and one death, while Victoria reported 1,232 infections and nine deaths.
