ACT records 583 new COVID-19 cases

The ACT has recorded 583 new COVID-19 cases in the latest update.

Of the new cases, 274 are from PCR tests and 309 from rapid antigen tests.

There are 41 people in hospital with the virus, just one is in the ICU and none require ventilation.

The ACT has now recorded 45,662 total COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic and 33 virus-related deaths.

77.6 per cent of children aged between five and 11 have received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 65.3 per cent of eligible ACT residents have received three shots.

There are 2,786 active cases in Canberra.

COVID across the country

NSW has reported 8,752 new COVID-19 cases and 14 deaths. Four people that died had received three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, seven had received two doses and three were not vaccinated. Two people that died were aged under 65 years, they had both received three doses of the vaccine and had significant underlying health conditions.

Victoria reported a further 14 COVID-related deaths and 6786 new cases as indoor mask mandates are set to end for many on Friday.

Queensland will also dump mask mandates in most indoor settings and density limits from 4 March as the state recorded 5,583 infections and five deaths.

The ACT Government are expected to announce changes to face mask requirements this week.
