Director of local real estate agency Maria Selleck Properties, Maria Selleck, is in the running to be named residential salesperson of the year at the Real Estate Insitute of Australia’s (REIA) awards.

REIA announced the finalists for its national excellence awards yesterday, to be held in Darwin in June, with the ACT represented in 14 of 20 categories.

Independent is up for residential property management team of the year, while Sentia is a finalist for commercial agency of the year.

LJ Hooker’s Alison Austen from the Gungahlin office and Susan Weaver from the City office are also among those being recognised, in the operational support and business development manager categories respectively.

“In total, there are 20 awards across three streams: residential, commercial and excellence in the industry,” said REIA national president Adrian Kelly.

“It’s pleasing to note from our 83 finalists there has been an increase in female candidates in the different categories from previous years, in particular in the category of residential salesperson of the year, which is always hotly contested.”

Local agency Ashby Partners is in the running for two awards: small residential agency of the year and residential property manager of the year for director Melissa Escreza. In the commercial realm, Burgess Rawson’s Guy Randell is in the running for commercial salesperson of the year, while Colliers International’s Phillip Parker is a finalist in the commercial property management category.

“The Awards will be a night to remember as the Real Estate Institute of the Northern Territory (REINT) showcases the uniqueness of the Top End – the property sector, the open aired event and menu inspired by tastes of the Territory,” Mr Kelly said.

The remaining ACT finalists are: Belle Property Kingston – large residential agency of the year; Capital Buyers Agency – innovation award; Zoe Ferrari, CBRE – operational leadership award; Jonny Warren, Jonny Warren Properties – marketer of the year; and Claire Corby, Capital Buyers Agency – buyer’s agent of the year.
