26-year-old female teacher charged with child sexual offences

A 26-year-old woman has been charged with child sexual offences after she was arrested by ACT Policing detectives yesterday.

In December 2021, ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations – Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team (SACAT) received a report regarding an alleged inappropriate “relationship” between a female student teacher and a male student.

SACAT Detectives investigated the allegations, resulting in a search warrant being executed at a residence in Gowrie yesterday, Sunday 21 February.

A 26-year-old woman at the residence was subsequently arrested and charged with one count of committing an act of indecency on a young person and one count of using a carriage service to send indecent material to a young person.

The woman is expected to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today, Monday 21 February.
