21-year-old caught speeding in excess of 40km/h above limit

A constable on just his second day of duty has caught a 21-year-old Richardson man driving in excess of 40km/h above the posted speed limit yesterday, Friday 5 August.

About 11.30am yesterday, the driver was detected travelling northbound along Yarra Glen, Curtin in a black Honda Station Wagon at 121km/h.

The officer who detected the driver was on his second day on the road with ACT Policing having just graduated from the AFP College.

The driver was issued with a $700 fine, for speeding between 30 and 45 km/h over the limit, an offence which also carries four demerit points.

ACT Policing reminds the community that there is no excuse for speeding and that we will continue to proactively target dangerous driving behaviour on our roads.

The message remains – you can be detected anywhere, anytime, by any police vehicle.
